to Grandmothers Gamma and PopPa's house we go. Okay so maybe we didn't go through the woods, and I am sure we crossed a few rivers but we most definitely went through a moment of insanity when we decided to take our 2.5 year old and our not quite 6 month old who screams his head off the moment his tiny back touches his carseat until we lift him out is not a fan of his carseat and take them on an 11 hour drive to Virginia to visit family and friends. First stop was Atlanta so that B could go to a work meeting. IKEA is a must when visiting Atlanta so I was excited to pick up a few things that I had had my eye on for awhile. The boys actually did quite well on the shopping trip and I felt we were off to a good start. Upon leaving IKEA, our travels went straight down a slippery slope with no brakes. Alison went to IKEA with us and drove us to meet up with B at his meeting location since it was on the other side of Atlanta...the GPS had a bit of a *moment* and put us in the OPPOSITE direction of where we needed to be going and put us back about 45 minutes. We grabbed a quick lunch at Chikfila and we were on the road to VA, two hours of driving and Sawyer screamed the.entire.two.hours.non.stop. (I am use to his screams so therefore I can tune him out and even hold a conversation, B on the other hand, can NOT.) One hour in and our DVD player decides to crap out. YAY for the end of entertainment for the 2.5 year old. (iPad saved the day on that one) Around the 2 hour mark, we heard a big POW and realize that our back right passenger tire has blown. You know, the tires that we just had put on THREE days prior to our trip. AWESOME.
I've changed a few tires, and B has changed a few tires, but you can't change a tire without a lug nut wrench. Yep, thats right, somehow that little magical tool didn't make it back into the Jeep last time a tire was changed. Panic started to set in since we were somewhere two hours into our trip VERY far from anyone that we knew. We called road side assistance and got the low blow quoted price of $89 for someone to come out to help us. Then out of no where a good samaritan came to the rescue and stopped to help. Did I mention that Sawyer didn't make so much as a peep during the whole hour that we were stopped. He smiled actually. Upon getting back on the road, the screaming presumed until there was little less than an hour left. Dada
We arrived to our final destination around 3AM to a VERY happy Gamma and PopPa....
Playtime at 3am may be fun for a cute little baby but not so much for the Momma and Dada...but luckily we got some well needed sleep while Gamma and Poppa stayed awake with the wide awake babies and let us sleep...
More of the trip to come, STAY TUNED...
